Rugby League The SP Port Moresby Rugby Football League (POMRFL) has clamped down July 17 to get their season 2020 underway at the National Football Stadium Oval 2. POMRFL junior vice-president Manu Lofena yesterday announced the decision to confirm next week Friday as the kick-off date, and to remind all 14 clubs to be competition ready for shortened one round competition to be played over 13 weeks. Lofena said: “The POMRFL management has complied with all protocols of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that has been set and thus we have been allowed to start our competition. “In regards to the venue management, yes we have issues that we have tried to solve with our fellow board directors from Oil Search, but that will not stop us from getting our competition off the ground next week.” Lofena said everything is set and nothing will deter their season from starting. POMRFL administrator Meke Maino further made the point that this will be the 71st uninterrupted season which will go for one round with a further three weeks for the usual top eight finals format. The 14 clubs are, Tarangau, Royals, Defence, Souths, Kone Storms, Dobo Warriors, Paga Panthers, Kone Tigers, Brothers, Wests, Hanuabada Hawks, Hohola Flies, Magani and Butterflies.
