Seafood Island, a new Cajun-style restaurant, opened Tuesday afternoon at 75th and Nieman in Shawnee.Located at 10810 W. 75th St., Seafood Island is the site of a former Ryan’s Buffet restaurant.Shawnee resident Eric Lin, who co-owns the restaurant, said he’s excited to open the restaurant and introduce his neighbors to their cuisine.“It’s been about almost nine months to plan it,” Lin said, noting his anticipation to impress customers with the Cajun cuisine. “We’re going to do something that’s good for Midwestern customers.”Lin said the coronavirus pandemic directly impacted his ability to renovate and open Seafood Island this spring. He had originally planned on an opening by mid-April.The renovated interior includes several painted murals of sea life on the walls.“Every time I asked coronavirus to go, he still stayed; that’s why I hate him,” Lin said with a wry smile. One benefit of the delay: Lin said he and his chefs had more time to refine the menu to fit Midwestern preferences for seafood.“The Gulf-side flavors may be different from what we have here in the middle of the States,” Lin added. “That’s why I wanted to bring in Midwestern tastes.”At this point, the restaurant will only offer carryout and delivery orders. Lin said he and his business partners will decide at a later date when they will allow customers to dine in.The owners have renovated the interior by replacing the buffet area with a centerpiece bar and multiple TV screens; adding painted murals of sea life along the walls; and building a stage for live entertainment.Capacity is normally about 300 to 350 customers, but when they open to allow dining in, the restaurant will only allow a much smaller capacity. The owners also have strict cleaning regimens for staff to keep themselves and customers safe. Tables will be distancing apart, and hand sanitizing stations will be posted near the entrance.Lin added that live entertainment will feature dinner music played by a variety of musicians.Tentative hours of operation are 12-9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 12-11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
WWE Clash of Champions was highlighted by an epic battle between The Boss and The Man, a pair of title changes, an unexpected return and a Fiend. Beyond an excellent Raw Women’s title match between Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, it was a ho-hum show until the main event featuring Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. Rollins defeated Strowman to retain the Universal title in a solid match that exceeded expectations. The real moment of the evening took place as the show was coming to a close. With Rollins celebrating his hard-earned victory over Strowman, Bray Wyatt’s The Fiend unexpectedly attacked Rollins with a Sister Abigail and a Mandible Claw.Other results included Kofi Kingston beating Randy Orton to hold onto the WWE championship and Bayley retaining the Smackdown Women’s title over Charlotte Flair. Here is what happened at WWE Night of Champions.Join DAZN and watch more than 100 fight nights a yearWWE Clash of Champions live results, updates10:40 p.m.: As the show was coming to an end with Rollins standing on top of the ramp, The Fiend appeared and laid out Rollins with Sister Abigail and the Mandible Claw. The crowd erupted during the entire sequence for Bray Wyatt. Is the character ready for this spot yet? The crowd sure thinks so. Let’s see if Wyatt can deliver. See you in Hell, @WWERollins . #WWEClash #TheFiend #HIAC @WWEBrayWyatt pic.twitter.com/gfn9JG0x8s— WWE (@WWE) September 16, 2019 Seth Rollins retains the Universal title vs. Braun Strowman10:29 p.m.: It took four curb stomps and a pedigree but Rollins held onto the gold. Better than expected match. Rollins raised his game to carry Strowman to one of his better matches. Can we now say that Strowman has become this era’s Big Show? A big man who you can plop into a title program at any time but always have him come up short? An interesting note that the crowd booed Rollins during that final exchange. 10:22 p.m.: A splash from the top rope from Strowman. WOW!10:19 p.m.: A nice spot where Strowman tried to do his running tackle on the outside but Rollins did a drop toehold to send Strowman through the table. The #MonsterAmongMen goes FLYING! #WWEClash #UniversalChampionship @BraunStrowman @WWERollins pic.twitter.com/CqZE1gHdz4— WWE Universe (@WWEUniverse) September 16, 2019 10:11 p.m.: It’s time for the main event of WWE Clash of Champions as Seth Rollins puts the Universal title on the line against Braun Strowman. Rollins will need his working shoes on to get a good match out of Strowman.Erick Rowan beats Roman Reigns with help from the returning Luke Harper10:08 p.m.: Reigns and Rowan had no reason having a good match but they sure did on this night. A creative ending with Reigns going for the spear from the top of the ramp when Harper made his surprise return and delivered a big boot to Reigns, which helped Rowan secure the pin. The right finish for the right time that should lead to the return of Daniel Bryan. Harper is a vastly underrated talent who deserves the chance to show how good he really is. That wasn’t a victory. That was a BLUDGEONING. #WWEClash @LukeHarperWWE @ERICKROWAN pic.twitter.com/d5z1lkaANj— WWE (@WWE) September 16, 2019 10:01 p.m.: Impressive pick-up powerbomb by Rowan to put Reigns through the table. Fun match so far.9:50 p.m.: Coming up next at WWE Clash of Champions is the co-main event, as Roman Reigns faces off with Erick Rowan in a no disqualification match. This is the only non-title bout of the show. As backward as the program has been to get here, Reigns and Rowan have done some good work. Should be an intense and very physical brawl.Kofi Kingston defeats Randy Orton to remain WWE champion9:42 p.m.: Thank god this appears to be the end of the program. The bout was slow as Kingston and Orton’s styles don’t mesh very well. Uptempo combined with a methodical pace don’t mesh well. The ending of Orton hitting the RKO and Kingston’s foot touching the ropes followed by the Trouble in Paradise from Kingston was extremely flat. Kingston needs someone like Daniel Bryan or Ali to get his momentum back as his reign has trailed off since the Orton program began. 9:30 p.m.: Not a bad matchup but not a good one either. Can Kingston and Orton pick it up?9:12 p.m.: Now at WWE Clash of Champions, as Kofi Kingston defends the WWE Championship against Randy Orton. Like their Summerslam match in August, a good story was told coming in, but the match was mediocre. Can they right ship here?Sasha Banks wins by disqualification; Becky Lynch retains title9:06 p.m.: A pretty good match ruined by a finish that made little sense. Why didn’t the referee call for the bell when Lynch and Banks came back to ringside instead of having the crowd and people at home thinking the bout was still going on? The icing on the cake was then Lynch getting the better end of the exchange with numerous chair shots and standing tall. What’s the purpose of a rematch when the babyface bested the heel? There’s no reason to want to see it. A bad job there by WWE. They just cut Banks’ momentum from out under her by doing this. Disqualification? Please. As long as she’s still got the gold, that’s all that matters to @BeckyLynchWWE . #WWEClash #AndStill pic.twitter.com/BKmpHJhXsU— WWE (@WWE) September 16, 2019 9:00 p.m.: The match has spilled through the crowd and into the concession stand after Lynch accidentally hit the referee with a chair. A solid brawl so far.8:53 p.m.: Lynch and Banks having a good one here. The crowd is really into everything they are doing.8:41 p.m.: Up next at WWE Clash of Champions is Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks locking horns for the Raw Women’s title. A good story heading in. Lynch has been shaky since winning the title and needs a standout match here. She has the right dance partner with Banks. The crowd wasn’t hot for Lynch coming out. Feels like the shine is starting to wear off.Shinsuke Nakamura successfully retains the Intercontinental title over The Miz8:33 p.m.: Nakamura’s selling made the match better than it had any reason being. He sold Miz working on his knee like a million bucks so when The Miz locked in the figure-four leglock, the crowd really bought into it. The Miz looked to be on his way to being the new titleholder until Sami Zayn interfered. Nakamura hit the Kinshasa outside the ring and proceeded to connect on another one to get the pin and keep the championship. While I’m not a fan of WWE just putting random people together, this partnership works. Zayn can do all the talking and Nakamura can shine in the ring.8:22 p.m.: Great microphone work by Sami Zahn in getting the crowd to boo while running down The Miz.8:20 p.m.: Now at WWE Clash of Champions, Shinsuke Nakamura defends the Intercontinental title vs. The Miz. Who would have thought this would be happening two years ago when Nakamura was on top? Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss retain the Raw Women’s tag team titles over Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville8:13 p.m.: All you can say about this match was that it was bad. It was very slow and sloppy in spots. Difficult to watch. By far, the worst on the show up to this point.8:00 p.m.: Right now at WWE Clash of Champions, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross face Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville for the Raw Women’s tag team titles. Expect this to be very bad.The Revival unseats The New Day to become Smackdown tag team champions7:55 p.m.: Every match has been short tonight. The action was good with Woods selling his knee injury. The Revival hit the shatter machine to Big E on the outside and then put a beatdown on Woods. He also got a shatter machine. A pin wasn’t made. Instead, The Revival worked on Woods’ knee, put him in a submission maneuver. Woods tried to fight off and reach the ropes. He was unable to do so and tapped out and new champions were crowned. ✅ #WWENXT #TagTeamChampions✅ #RAW #TagTeamChampions✅ #SDLive #TagTeamChampionsTop Guys OUT. #WWEClash #AndNew @ScottDawsonWWE @DashWilderWWE pic.twitter.com/NizzcQ8Bin— WWE (@WWE) September 15, 2019 WWE hasn’t given The Revival long runs when they have won the titles in the past. If you want the tag team division to have significance, the tag team titles need to mean something, especially with AEW wanting to put a major emphasis on it, The Revival are the right guys for the job.7:50 p.m.: Xavier Woods is very underrated as a talent. He’s the glue of The New Day. He’s good in the ring and even better on the microphone.7:42 p.m.: Coming up at WWE Clash of Champions is The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) putting their tag team titles on the line against The Revival. Every match has been short thus far. Let’s see if they give this foursome time as it can be a great one.Bayley cheats to beat Charlotte Flair to retain the Smackdown Women’s title7:38 p.m.: Not surprised on who won but the finish was pretty creative. Bayley was on the mat when she untied the bottom turnbuckle, grabbed Flair and threw her into the exposed turnbuckle for the pinfall. Can see the angle being Bayley stooping to any level to hold onto the title. Like how she immediately grabbed the belt and hightailed it out of the arena. Well done in the evolution of her heel character.7:30 p.m.: Up next at WWE Clash of Champions is Bayley and Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s title. Interested to see the dynamic between them with Bayley as the heel and Flair as the babyface.Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode capture the Raw tag team titles from Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman7:21 p.m.: If Rollins and Strowman weren’t in the main event this would have received more time. Solid action with the expected finish of Strowman cost them the titles when he pushed Roode into Rollins, who went into the ring post. Roode hit the Glorious DDT on Rollins and new champions were crowned. 🎶Glorious! No, I won’t give in. I won’t give in. ‘Til I’m victorious! And I will defend. I will defend!🎶 @RealRobertRoode & @HEELZiggler are GLORIOUS & VICTORIOUS as they become the NEW #RAW #TagTeamChampions at #WWEClash ! pic.twitter.com/S8Ume7gnVH— WWE (@WWE) September 15, 2019 Good to see Roode and Ziggler have the belts because they are two hard workers who deserve more than they were getting until they were put together.7:16 p.m.: Like the pacing here. Giving it an old school feel of the babyface trying to get the tag to his partner and getting cut off. Build the anticipation. The crowd popped big when Rollins tagged in Strowman.7:15 p.m.: Roode has a new lease on life being in this tag team with Ziggler. 7:10 p.m.: The main card of WWE Clash of Champions begins with Universal champion Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman defending the Raw tag team titles against Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. Good way to begin the main show. I smell Rollins or Strowman turning on the other to build to the main event.AJ Styles squashes Cedric Alexander to retain the U.S. title6:57 p.m.: The headline isn’t a joke. After Alexander got some initial offense in front of his hometown fans, Styles dominated and finished Alexander off with phenomenal forearm followed by a Styles Clash for the win. For five minutes, it was pretty good because of Styles and Alexander being two great workers. Why make easy work of Alexander and give the contest only five minutes is definitely puzzling and a head scratcher.6:49 p.m.: The final match on the pre-show is AJ Styles meeting Cedric Alexander for the United States title. Why is this on now? Drew Gulak retains the Cruiserweight title over Humberto Carillo and Lince Dorado6:40 p.m.: You think of a cruiserweight match, you envision high octane and all action. This wasn’t it. Far too often, it was slow plodding with no rhythm. Carillo hit an Aztec Press on Dorado that missed by a country mile. Gulak came in and threw Carillo into the ring and scored the pin to hold onto the belt. Give the three guys credit. They got the crowd into it but it was nothing to write home about. Carillo has a shot to be pretty good. Hopefully, one day he gets out of the jail known as 205 Live.6:36 p.m.: A “This is Awesome” chant in a cruiserweight match. Let’s not go too far. It’s good but not worthy of that distinction.6:28 p.m.: Kicking off the pre-show at WWE Clash of Champions is a triple-threat match for Cruiserweight title as Drew Gulak puts the belt on the line against Humberto Carrillo and Lince Dorado. A shame this is on now because if they are allowed, it should be really good.6:07 p.m. ET: Welcome to Sporting News’ coverage of WWE Clash of Champion. One China Central Television broadcast said Saturday that Silver has stepped out of line by defaming China, supporting Morey and making false claims, according to the South China Morning Post. Chinese media have also warned Silver that he will “receive retribution sooner or later” for his actions.“Silver has spared no effort to portray himself as a fighter for free speech and used freedom of speech as an excuse to cover for Morey, who voiced his support for the violent actors in Hong Kong,” CCTV said. “This has crossed the bottom line of the Chinese people. The tension between the NBA and China has continued to mount since Rockets general manager Daryl Morey weighed in on protests taking place in Hong Kong via Twitter, and league commissioner Adam Silver appears to have stirred the pot even more.Silver said there was “no chance” the NBA would discipline Morey for his since-deleted tweet Friday after China reportedly requested his firing.
